About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Courier in Urbandale, Iowa. The role transports medical specimens and laboratory materials on a scheduled route, helping ensure diagnostic tests reach their destinations safely and on time. The courier works independently, communicates with healthcare and laboratory staff, and represents the company in interactions with customers. The schedule is Monday through Thursday from 12:15 PM to 5:45 PM, Friday from 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, and every other Saturday from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, for 30 hours per week. The pay range starts at $17.75 per hour. External applicants may be eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Salary offers depend on factors including skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications, as well as market and organizational factors. Eligible candidates may also receive annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least 3 years of driving experience.
- Provide documentation of a Motor Vehicle Record with no more than two moving violation convictions in the previous 36 months and none in the most recent 12 months.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and reliable documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve on the road.
- Comfort using mobile devices or scanning tools.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and remain on the move for much of the shift.
Nice To Haves
- Prior medical, customer service, courier, or logistics experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Pick up, transport, and deliver medical specimens and laboratory materials on a scheduled route.
- Communicate professionally with doctors, nurses, and laboratory staff to support timely deliveries.
- Safely operate a company-provided, non-CDL vehicle.
- Use handheld scanners, route software, and mobile apps to track deliveries.
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, storage, and documentation.
- Comply with DOT, HIPAA, OSHA, and internal safety standards.
