About The Position

Rapid Medical is seeking an independent-contractor Medical Courier for a route from Thousand Oaks to Los Angeles. The route covers approximately 66 miles and runs Monday through Friday, starting at 7:30 PM and lasting approximately 4.5 hours. Contractors located within 15 miles of the start point, end point, or along the route are well-suited for the position.

The courier uses a driver app for navigation, scheduling, and real-time support; photographs pickups and deliveries and logs proof of delivery through the app; handles specimens carefully and maintains required temperatures; and promptly contacts dispatch about damaged, improperly packaged, or otherwise concerning items. Rapid Medical provides a branded shirt and bag, onboarding and protocol training, a route preview, and real-time dispatch support.

Compensation is an all-inclusive $110 per route, with mileage, drive time, and expenses factored in. The posting also describes weekly bonus opportunities, a training bonus paid after 30 days with no call-offs, and a $150 sign-on bonus after 30 active days with no call-offs. Payments are made by biweekly direct deposit or same-day cash-out, with possible fees. Contractors are responsible for self-employment taxes, and a 1099-NEC is issued for payments. Engagement is conditional on a satisfactory background check and motor vehicle record review.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have a personal vehicle; a 2016 or newer vehicle is preferred.
• Have a valid driver's license and active insurance.
• Have a satisfactory driving record, subject to motor vehicle record review.
• Have a smartphone running iOS 13 or later or Android 11 or later, with reliable data service.
• Be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Pass a satisfactory background check and MVR review.
• As an independent contractor, be responsible for self-employment taxes.

Nice To Haves

• Delivery, rideshare, or courier experience is a plus but not required.
• A personal vehicle from 2016 or newer is preferred.
• Reliability and punctuality, attention to detail, prompt communication, and comfort adjusting to changing circumstances are identified as qualities for success.

Responsibilities
