About The Position

Rapid Medical is seeking an independent contractor to deliver medical specimens on a 31-mile route from Fairhope to Spanish Fort, Alabama. The route runs Monday through Friday, starts at 4:30 p.m., and takes approximately two hours. Contractors located within 15 miles of the start point, end point, or along the route are well-suited to the position.

The route is managed through a driver app that provides navigation, scheduling, and real-time support. Couriers photograph pickups and deliveries, record proof of delivery, handle specimens carefully, maintain required temperatures, and promptly contact dispatch about damaged, improperly packaged, or otherwise concerning items.

Compensation is an all-inclusive rate per route, with mileage, drive time, and expenses factored in. The posting also describes weekly bonus opportunities, a training bonus after 30 days with no call-offs, and a $150 sign-on bonus after 30 active days with no call-offs. Payment is available by biweekly direct deposit or same-day cash-out, for which fees may apply. Rapid Medical provides a branded shirt and bag, onboarding and protocol training, and real-time dispatch support. Contractor engagements require satisfactory background and motor vehicle record checks. Contractors are responsible for self-employment taxes; a 1099-NEC is issued for payments made.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have a personal vehicle; a 2016 or newer vehicle is preferred.
• Have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance.
• Have a satisfactory driving record (MVR) and pass the required background check and MVR review.
• Have a smartphone running iOS 13 or later or Android 11 or later, with reliable data.
• Be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Be reliable and punctual, detail-oriented, communicative, and comfortable adjusting to changing circumstances.

Nice To Haves

• Delivery, rideshare, or courier experience is a plus but is not required.
• A 2016 or newer personal vehicle is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete the Fairhope-to-Spanish Fort route Monday through Friday.
• Use the driver app for navigation, scheduling, and route support.
• Photograph pickups and deliveries and record proof of delivery in the app.
• Handle specimens carefully and maintain the required room-temperature, refrigerated, or frozen conditions.
• Contact dispatch promptly if an item appears damaged, improperly packaged, or otherwise concerning.
