About The Position

The Medical Billing Manager oversees Billing and Cash Applications operations within Revenue Cycle Management. The role is responsible for accurate claims generation, cash posting, charge entry, payment reconciliation, payer enrollment management, and overall revenue cycle performance. The manager works with Finance, Information Systems, Clinical Operations, and third-party payers to improve reimbursement, cash flow, operational efficiency, and service excellence. This position leads supervisors and billing representatives in a fast-paced Revenue Cycle environment. It is hybrid in Towson, Maryland, with 1–2 weeks of onsite training. After training, onsite work is required 1–2 times per month, with the remainder of the schedule remote. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role is described as permanent, with an annual pay range of $70,000–$97,000. Individual compensation depends on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other job-related factors.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of medical billing experience.
Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a Lead, Supervisor, or Manager capacity.
Strong knowledge of the full Revenue Cycle Management process.
Experience managing billing and cash application operations.
Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with healthcare payers and reimbursement processes.
Ability to monitor and improve revenue cycle performance metrics.
Athena billing and cash posting experience.
IDX billing and cash posting experience.
Medical billing leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage Billing and Cash Applications teams within Revenue Cycle Operations.
Ensure accurate and timely claim generation and submission to payers.
Oversee payment posting, charge entry, and cash reconciliation activities.
Monitor billing, collections, cash posting, and revenue cycle performance metrics.
Manage payer enrollments and ongoing payer compliance requirements.
Supervise, mentor, and develop supervisors and billing staff.
Implement operational improvements and process enhancements.
Collaborate with Finance, IT, Clinical Operations, and external payers.
Address claim denials, underpayments, and reimbursement issues.
Support system implementations, workflow optimization, and change management initiatives.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
