About The Position

North Alabama Shoals Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for its OBGYN practice. This is a day-shift position scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Medical Assistant performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection, monitors and communicates changes in patient condition, documents care, maintains supplies and equipment, and keeps examination areas maintained. The role also includes administrative and clerical duties such as reception, scheduling, filing, data entry, and patient registration.

North Alabama Medical Group is a network of more than 15 clinics offering primary and specialty care throughout the Shoals and surrounding communities. Team members work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, clinical staff, and support professionals to provide compassionate care and build lasting patient relationships.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• CCMA, CMA, or RMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and collect specimens.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Document patient care provided.
• Maintain medical equipment and supplies by reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain examination areas.
• Perform assigned administrative or clerical duties, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
