American Family Care Medical Assistants combine clinical care, patient service, and front-desk and insurance-verification work to keep urgent care centers operating smoothly. They help deliver care while supporting accurate payment for services in a fast-paced clinical setting. The role includes greeting and triaging patients; collecting vital signs and histories; performing venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing; assisting with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, and nebulizer therapy; and handling registration, insurance eligibility, financial responsibility, co-pays, payment logs, and EMR accuracy. Medical Assistants also educate patients, provide discharge instructions, respond empathetically to concerns, participate in daily huddles, maintain compliance logs, and support infection-control and HIPAA standards. The work environment is a fast-paced urgent care clinic. It involves prolonged standing and walking, routine exposure to blood and body fluids with strict PPE adherence, occasional lifting up to 25–30 pounds, evening and weekend shifts, and floating to nearby centers as needed. Applicants must pass a drug screen and criminal background check. The expected pay range is $17.50–$20.50 per hour; final compensation depends on experience, certifications, education, and geographic location. Benefits and advancement opportunities are offered, with availability varying by employment status.
