About The Position

The Medical Assistant ensures the clinical environment is clean, stocked, and ready for patient care. The role includes performing phlebotomy, preparing specimens for transport to labs, performing simple laboratory procedures, taking vital signs, preparing patients for procedures, and assisting with patient flow. The Medical Assistant provides general clinical support to physicians and other staff, answers phones, makes appointments, collects co-pays and payments, assists with billing, and adds information to the electronic medical record.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of healthcare experience.
• At least one year of medical terminology experience.
• Knowledge of the Bloodborne Pathogen Standard.
• Experience in clinical pharmacology.
• BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from a medical assisting degree or program.
• One year of healthcare or medical primary care/office experience.
• Medical Assistant Certification or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
