About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant works in an OB/GYN clinic at Ascension Medical Group in Anderson, Indiana. This role assists with provider-ordered treatments under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse and performs selected clinical duties. The position also includes patient interviews, vital-sign measurement, chart documentation, examination-room preparation, clerical tasks, and supply management. The schedule is full-time, daytime hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

• BLS Provider certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• Medical Assistant certification or registration must be obtained within 90 days of hire or job transfer.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience. Required professional licensure or certification may be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with treatments ordered by a provider under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse.
• Perform selected clinical duties.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in patient charts.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
• Perform basic clerical duties, including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
• Order and stock supplies and assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
• May document provider encounters, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider.
• Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
