About The Position

ConvenientMD is seeking a Medical Assistant to support high-quality patient care and smooth clinic operations in an urgent care setting. The role involves interacting with patients, assisting healthcare providers, performing clinical procedures, maintaining electronic health records, and coordinating care with the clinical team. Medical Assistants may administer prescription medications under licensed-provider supervision in New Hampshire and Maine. The schedule requires 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with travel for training and potential work at other nearby ConvenientMD locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Medical Assistant certification and at least one year of experience, or two years of experience working as a Medical Assistant.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; CPR, ACLS, and online-only classes are not accepted.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts. Full-time schedule: three shifts per week, including at least four Saturday or Sunday shifts per month; part-time schedule: two shifts per week, including at least two Saturday or Sunday shifts per month; per diem schedule: four shifts per month, ideally one shift per week.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability, if needed, to work at a minimum of three other ConvenientMD locations within one hour of the primary clinic.
• Ability to travel for training shifts, which may take place outside the primary clinic within a one-hour commute.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and experience with or ability to learn Experity and other business systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, and patient interaction skills.

Nice To Haves

• One to two years of patient triage experience in an urgent care or emergency department.

Responsibilities

• Engage with patients professionally, answer inquiries, and provide information about medical conditions, treatment plans, and medications.
• Explain prescribed medications, including dosage instructions and possible adverse reactions.
• Provide guidance on lifestyle modifications, preventive healthcare, and follow-up care.
• Address patient questions and concerns about their health status and treatment options.
• Conduct preliminary evaluations to triage patients and assess the urgency of their medical needs.
• Perform basic clinical procedures, including taking vital signs, obtaining medical histories, phlebotomy, and assisting with minor medical procedures.
• Accurately document patient information in electronic health records while complying with privacy regulations.
• In New Hampshire and Maine, administer prescription medications under the supervision and direction of licensed healthcare providers and follow state regulations.
• Prepare and administer medications accurately, with an understanding of dosages, routes, and potential side effects.
• Coordinate patient care with clinical team members and communicate patient information and updates to providers and other healthcare professionals.
• Collaborate with providers on discharge plans and assist with discharge when needed.
• Welcome and support the training of new clinic team members.
