About The Position

Under the direction of an appropriate licensed clinician, the Medical Assistant II provides clinical care and performs clerical duties to support office and clinic functions. The role includes workplace education and training to assist providers and the healthcare team in caring for patients. This position is based at Oxford Urgent Care and is scheduled for 40 hours per week on day shifts, including every other weekend. Weekday hours are 8 a.m.–7 p.m.; weekend hours are 8 a.m.–5 p.m. The position is non-exempt. A $3,000 sign-on bonus may be available, with eligibility confirmed during the interview process. The position works indoors in a patient-care office or clinic environment. The work involves standing and walking most of the time, frequent bending, and potentially pushing heavy equipment. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have the dexterity, hearing, and vision needed to adjust equipment, follow direction, and observe and describe patient conditions.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification; if not held upon hire, it must be obtained within three months of the hire date.
Medical Assistant credential approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health, such as ARMA or NHA; it must be obtained within one year of hire or transfer.
For the Medical Assistant II designation, Medical Assistant certification or registration must be held before the start date.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical demands described for the role.

Responsibilities

Escort patients to examination rooms and measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, height, and weight.
Collect and document patient health status and history, and document and monitor patient progress according to standard procedures.
Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care tests according to clinic or office standards.
Prepare, document, and administer non-intravenous injections when directed or required by the clinic or office and within the scope of practice.
Assist with routine physical examinations and clinical procedures.
Review laboratory results and promptly bring abnormal results to the attention of physicians and others, as appropriate.
Perform clerical duties that support office and clinic functions.
