About The Position
The Medical Assistant provides clinical support for the OB-GYN practice, assisting wherever coverage is needed. The role includes preparing rooms and patients for examinations and treatment; gathering patient histories and vital signs; maintaining accurate electronic health records; and supporting patient flow and front-office tasks. The position requires adapting to different workflows and collaborating with care teams to provide smooth, high-quality patient experiences in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least six months of related work experience.
- Adaptability, organization, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of medical assisting normally associated with an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance.
- National Certification as a Medical Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms and prepare patients for examination and treatment.
- Obtain pertinent patient history and enter it into the medical record, including chief complaint, medical and surgical history, allergies, medications, and appropriate review of systems.
- Take and document patient vital signs.
- Process and file laboratory and diagnostic test results, correspondence, and clinical notes in patient charts after physician review.
- Coordinate patient flow and collaborate with the receptionist to help ensure patients are seen efficiently and on time.
- Assist front-office personnel by answering telephone calls, scheduling appointments, and performing other tasks as needed.
