About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists with the delivery of patient care in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, and established procedures, as directed by the Administrator. The role helps maintain the highest degree of care quality and safety in an onsite, multi-specialty clinic at Martha's Vineyard Hospital.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Certificate or diploma in a related field of study.
Ability to make timely independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies or personnel, and the general public.
Willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel and the general public.
Ability to read, write legibly, speak clearly, and understand English.
Within one year of employment, if not completed before hire, meet one of the stated professional development pathways: complete Medical Assistant school/program or comparable related training; enroll in a program to enhance MA skills, such as RMA, CMA, or CCMA; or enroll in a program leading to further medical-field skill development, such as CNA, EMT, LPN, RN, CNM, NP, PA, MD, or DO.

Nice To Haves

Medical Assistant experience in an ambulatory setting; 0–1 year preferred.
At least six months of employment in an ambulatory physician practice setting within the last three years; 0–1 year preferred.
