About The Position

HealthFirst Family Care Center, Inc. is offering a full-time, in-person, paid Medical Assistant training program which includes both classroom and clinical training. Classes offered virtually through CareerStep will prepare a learner to take the National Healthcareer Association’s CMAA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) exam to gain certification. Hands-on training days will provide opportunities for observing as well as performing tasks such as rooming patients, obtaining and recording patient vitals, performing EKGs, and assisting providers in procedures and exams. Participants must commit to 16 weeks of in-person paid coursework and a 100-hour paid internship to be completed at HealthFirst. Upon acceptance into the program, students will be required to sign a 2-year work commitment. Note: Successful completion of the program and internship does not guarantee employment.

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Must submit a resume that includes a brief statement explaining why you are interested in becoming a medical assistant
Provide 3 references
Possess a clear background free of criminal offenses
High level of customer service and a positive approach to working with patients.
Projects positive attitude about the department and the health center and offers services to ensure positive experience
Ability to maintain an organized work area and work collaboratively as a member of a team
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Time management skills to effectively communicate with patients
Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
Works well under pressure to manage stressful situations
Uses sound judgment and confidence
Ability to multi-task
Detail-oriented and accurate
Able to sit at a computer for an extended period of time
