About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports patient care at Henry Ford Health’s Colon and Rectal Surgery department at Fairlane Medical Center in Dearborn, Michigan. Under the supervision of providers and nursing leadership, the role includes administrative and clinical tasks that support a seamless patient experience and help ensure efficient, effective care. The schedule is Wednesday and Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekly.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
One of the following: graduate of a Medical Assistant program with a formal clinical externship of at least 160 hours; graduate of a Medical Assistant program without a clinical externship and at least one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the past five years; current professionally recognized Medical Assistant certification and at least five years of clinical medical assisting experience; Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); licensed Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years; or military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.

Nice To Haves

Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.

Responsibilities

Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring a welcoming environment.
Obtain and document accurate medical histories from patients.
Measure and record vital signs and prepare patients for examinations or procedures.
Assist providers during examinations and procedures while supporting patient comfort and safety.
Perform administrative tasks to support the clinical team and enhance patient care.
