Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist (Weekends)
About The Position
US Fertility has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist at Shady Grove Fertility in Rockville, Maryland. The role is scheduled every other Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with compensation of $20 to $23 per hour, commensurate with experience. The Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist supports fertility patients and clinical teams through phlebotomy, specimen handling, patient education, and general clinical assistance. The position involves working independently and collaboratively while contributing to patient care and customer service. Requirements
- Strong phlebotomy skills.
- High school diploma.
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow through.
- Comfort with computer applications and accuracy and speed in data entry.
- At least one year of prior healthcare experience.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program.
Responsibilities
- Perform a high volume of phlebotomy.
- Maintain supplies for blood drawing stations.
- Assist with the clinical care of fertility patients.
- Ensure laboratory specimens are sent to the proper laboratories.
- Provide patient and couple counseling, procedure teaching, and communication of physician orders and instructions.
- Provide pre- and post-operative education.
- Perform semen washes and set up for intrauterine inseminations (IUIs).
- Take vital signs and provide general clinical assistance.
- Use computer systems to enter laboratory information and print labels.
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
- Work independently to help achieve program goals.
- Support and promote excellence in customer service.
