Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist (Weekends)
About The Position
US Fertility has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist at Shady Grove Fertility in Stony Point, Virginia. The schedule is every other Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Holidays that fall on the scheduled weekend are required. Compensation is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. The Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist supports fertility patients and clinical teams by performing phlebotomy, assisting with clinical care, managing specimens, providing patient education and support, and completing related clinical and computer tasks. The role calls for technical skill, empathy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Requirements
- Strong phlebotomy skills.
- High school diploma.
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow through.
- Comfort with computer applications and accuracy and speed with data entry.
- At least one year of prior healthcare experience.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program.
Responsibilities
- Perform a high volume of phlebotomy.
- Maintain supplies for the blood drawing stations.
- Assist with the clinical care of fertility patients.
- Ensure lab specimens are sent to the proper labs.
- Provide patient and couple counseling, procedure teaching, and communication of physician orders and instructions.
- Provide pre- and post-operative education.
- Perform semen washes and set up for IUIs.
- Take vital signs and provide general clinical assistance.
- Use the computer to enter lab information and print labels.
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
- Work independently to assure program goals are achieved.
- Support and promote excellence in customer service.
