NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, customer-friendly Medical Assistant who enjoys a fast-paced setting and working in a team environment. The role supports patient care in the back office and may also support front-office reception. The Medical Assistant helps ensure smooth clinic operations and optimal patient flow while treating patients with respect and dignity and providing care that meets their needs. Under the direct supervision of a Provider and within the Medical Assistant scope of practice, the role assists with examinations, procedures, and other direct-care processes; administers medications according to policy and Provider direction; and performs tasks such as blood draws, urine collection, splinting and casting, physicals, ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration. The position also follows laboratory and clinical accreditation requirements, documents in EMR/EHR systems, and promptly reports unusual patient events and safety concerns. When working at the front desk, the Medical Assistant keeps patients and families informed about wait times, monitors patient flow, and processes discharges, including preparing charges, collecting payments, obtaining signatures, and issuing receipts. Education requirements vary by state. Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program, or completion of a non-accredited program plus a qualifying national certification. In states other than Arizona, an alternative route is completion of an unapproved program plus at least one year of Medical Assistant employment after completion or verifiable experience directly supervised by a Provider or Physician Group for at least 2,000 hours or one year. Other education or experience may be considered with approval from the Compliance and Regulatory department.
