About The Position

The Medical Assistant I supports patient care by performing clinical and administrative tasks under the supervision of licensed providers. The role assists with patient assessments, prepares exam rooms, documents patient information, and helps maintain efficient clinic operations to ensure safe, timely, and compassionate care. The employee performs other duties as assigned. All responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No prior work experience required.
• Within 15 months from the date of hire, continued employment requires successful attainment and retention of one of the following certifications or registrations: CCMA, CMA (AAMA), NCMA, RMA (through AMT), or RMA (through ARMA), plus documented completion of a Medical Assistant program through an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Basic clinical skills, including vital signs, specimen collection, and EKGs.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and protocols.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Six months or more of experience in a healthcare or clinical setting.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA).
