The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports patient care through patient registration, insurance verification, accurate data entry, scheduling, and related activities. In the Ambulatory Access Center, the CMA serves as a first point of contact for patients and families calling the nurse triage line. The role gathers pertinent information, resolves concerns during the initial interaction when appropriate, or escalates them to a nurse for clinical review. The CMA provides timely, compassionate, and professional service, supports and educates patients and families, and routes concerns to the appropriate clinical team. The position works closely with nurses, providers, and ambulatory clinic teams to streamline communication, improve access to care, and enhance the patient experience.
