About The Position

The Medical Administration Specialist serves as a Team Supervisor in the Business Office at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, providing high-level administrative support to the Business Office, upper management, and clinical services. The position may provide direct or second-level supervision in one or more Business Office sections. The role coordinates mechanisms for accurate, timely, and consistent entry of data into the Medical Center database and uses VistA knowledge to create and capture data across Business Office packages. It ensures daily incomplete-encounter action-required reports are run and errors corrected, and escalates provider non-compliance to leadership. The specialist investigates patient eligibility complaints, drafts correspondence responding to Veterans, Congressional, and Veteran Service Representative inquiries, and interprets and implements regulations and VA/healthcare system policies concerning patient benefits and eligibility. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., subject to change based on facility needs. This is not a virtual position. Relocation and recruitment incentives and permanent change of station authorization are not available.
