About The Position

The Media Development Specialist (AI Content Developer) creates, enhances, and replaces multimedia instructional content across Michigan Virtual’s student course catalog using AI-powered tools. The role uses advanced prompting techniques and generative AI platforms to produce engaging, accessible multimedia—including video, animation, audio, images, interactive content, and text—aligned with instructional goals. The primary focus is producing high-quality instructional videos through AI tools and prompt engineering rather than manual video editing or filming. The specialist collaborates with curriculum, course support, and instructional design teams to review existing video assets, identify opportunities for improvement or replacement, and generate AI-driven media that supports learner engagement and comprehension. The role also iterates on AI-generated media by refining prompts and outputs, evaluating quality, and adjusting parameters to meet accessibility requirements and Michigan Virtual instructional standards. It supports course improvement and media integration, documents workflows and best practices, and helps develop internal guidance for AI-generated instructional content. The position is hybrid under Michigan Virtual policy and reports to the Course Design and Development Manager. It is an exempt, full-time position with a posting range of $58,337–$65,200.
