About The Position

The Med Tech provides quality care and services to residents and their families, including assistance with medication administration according to each resident’s care plan and physician’s orders. This is a non-exempt, hourly position reporting to the Director of Health & Wellness. The position is part-time, overnight, and per diem, with a listed hourly salary range of $24.00–$25.00.

Requirements

Successfully complete Medication Technician training and periodic competency testing.
Be able to perform medication administration in accordance with state regulations.
Have strong communication skills.
Know and adhere to HIPAA policies.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Have at least six months of experience working with seniors in Personal Care, Home Health, a hospital, or a Long-Term Care environment.
Be able to work weekends and holidays.
Be able to perform the physical activities described, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, and smelling.
Be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds; intermittent duties include lifting and supporting residents, using proper body mechanics.

Responsibilities

Administer or assist with self-administration of prescribed medication and maintain related medical records under the supervision of an RN and/or LPN.
Complete required annual medication training.
Provide resident care according to each resident’s care plan.
Maintain accurate and complete medical records and written documentation in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Preserve residents’ comfort, privacy, and dignity while delivering services.
Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition, cognition, and emotional status to a supervisor.
