About The Position

Jabil’s Summer Internship Program offers interns opportunities to engage with company leadership and participate in professional development, networking, social, and community engagement events. Interns may also serve on committees, receive a mentor, and tour Jabil facilities. Mechanical System Architect Interns work with System Architects who collaborate with customers, sales, and product planning to establish technical direction for Jabil design teams in the Cloud and Compute markets. The intern completes a primary project involving project management and solution development, and contributes to technical direction for customer-originated projects and Jabil cloud compute products. Work includes documenting requirements, communicating design plans and tradeoffs, assessing system layouts and mechanical feasibility, and collaborating across mechanical, electrical, thermal, firmware, and software disciplines. The role also includes training on detailed design requirements for computing components and hands-on assembly and disassembly of cloud computing products.

Requirements

  • Be a junior- or senior-year engineering student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar area.
  • Capability to research and explore unfamiliar technologies and concepts with an eye toward feasibility.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical domains, including basic nomenclature, concepts, and tools used by architectural teammates.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of mechanical engineering design principles.
  • Proven academic project experience.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to self-start and drive work.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with Intel, AMD, Nvidia, or ARM CPU/GPU architectures; direct experience with some of these is preferred.
