Mechanical Field Engineer, Capacity Delivery

FluidstackAustin, TX
$157,000 - $208,000Onsite

About The Position

Fluidstack is building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI, focusing on delivering gigawatts of compute power faster than anyone else. This involves rethinking every layer of the stack, from acquiring power to designing, building, and operating data centers. The Capacity Delivery Team is central to this mission, engineering gigawatts from drawing to energized in months, not years. They focus on engineering data centers that can be built rapidly, ensuring problems are caught early to avoid costly rework. The team also emphasizes designing once and building a hundred times, incorporating lessons learned from each site into a reference design to accelerate future builds.

Requirements

  • Field-engineered mechanical scope on industrial or data center builds.
  • Ability to spot a wrong install from across the data hall.
  • Document findings so contractors fix them without a fight.
  • Willingness to live on site during the build.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and pipefitting knowledge.
  • Liquid cooling installs.
  • Commissioning support.
  • QC certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Be the mechanical engineering presence on site, walking installs, catching deviations, and answering questions at the workface.
  • Verify mechanical installation against design daily, checking supports, slopes, clearances, and torque.
  • Run the mechanical punch process to ensure systems hand over to commissioning complete.
  • Feed field reality back to design, providing insights on what is buildable, what isn't, and what should change.

Benefits

  • Pay equity and transparency.
