Mechanical Engineer, Capacity Delivery

FluidstackAustin, TX
$157,000 - $208,000Onsite

About The Position

Fluidstack is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for their Capacity Delivery team. This role is crucial in engineering gigawatts of power from drawing to energized status in months, not years. The Capacity Delivery team owns technical execution across every build, including drawings, field questions, and engineering calls to keep multiple concurrent gigawatt sites moving. The goal is to engineer data centers that can be built in months, not years, where rework is not an option and problems must be caught on paper. The team also focuses on designing it once and building it a hundred times, ensuring lessons learned from each site are incorporated into the reference design for future builds, aiming for 50GW+ scale. In this role, you will own the mechanical engineering for assigned sites, including the review, field support, and closeout of cooling and piping scope. You will review mechanical packages against the reference design, flagging deviations with their impact. You will also be responsible for answering field mechanical RFIs (Requests for Information) quickly and turning recurring RFIs into design fixes. Additionally, you will support startup and commissioning with engineering expertise, answering questions related to flushing, filling, and balancing.

Requirements

  • Mechanical engineering experience for data center or industrial plants.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, and equipment schedules fluently.
  • Experience supporting construction and commissioning in the field.
  • Ability to provide fast and accurate RFI answers.

Nice To Haves

  • Liquid cooling systems experience.
  • PE track.
  • Pipe stress analysis.
  • Modular skid design.

Responsibilities

  • Own mechanical engineering for assigned sites: review, field support, and closeout of cooling and piping scope.
  • Review mechanical packages against the reference design and flag deviations with impact stated, not just difference.
  • Answer field mechanical RFIs in hours and turn recurring ones into design fixes.
  • Support startup and commissioning with engineering: flushing, filling, and balancing questions answered fast.

Benefits

  • Pay equity and transparency.
  • Equal Employment Opportunity.
