Mechanical Design Engineer / Creo, GD&T, ASME Y14

Global Engineering & Technology, Inc. (GET)•Knoxville, TN
•$147,500 - $165,000•Onsite

About The Position

Global Engineering & Technology (GET) is hiring multiple Mechanical Design Engineers to support national security work at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), including checking design definition for the first new weapon system program in over 30 years. The role is 100% on-site in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Long-term travel arrangements and per diem are available, subject to LANL travel guidelines. The position applies expertise in Creo 3D CAD, mechanical hardware design, fabrication, GD&T, and engineering concepts. The engineer checks models and drawings for form, fit, and function; supports Models Based Definition (MBD); conducts tolerance and stack analyses; and helps ensure product definition meets requirements, design intent, and producibility standards. Work involves technical solutions to complex or unique problems and is expected to be completed with expert results and without appreciable direction. The engineer may guide multidisciplinary teams through design iterations, lead design and production-related reviews, and mentor junior staff on MBD and GD&T. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance. A current Top Secret or DOE Q clearance is highly sought after but is not required. Nuclear, SSP, and NNSA experience are highly regarded.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical CAD and Creo.
  • Experience with mechanical CAD, manufacturing, inspection, assembly, and testing.
  • Experience checking Creo models and drawings for form, fit, and function and with MBD.
  • Experience conducting tolerance and stack analyses and complying with design standards.
  • Mechanical design experience ensuring product definition meets requirements and supports producibility.
  • Experience with Creo 3D CAD, PDMLink PLM, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis software.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14 standards, particularly Y14.5-2009 and Y14.41 MBD.
  • Knowledge of hardware fabrication, inspection, and assembly processes.
  • Experience with weapon-system configuration management workflows for product definition.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks for different customers.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop constructive, cooperative working relationships and support teams of engineers, physicists, scientists, technologists, and technicians.
