Mechanical Design Engineer / Creo, GD&T, ASME Y14

Global Engineering & Technology, Inc. (GET)•Santa Fe, NM
•$115,000 - $135,000•Onsite

About The Position

Global Engineering & Technology (GET) is hiring multiple Mechanical Design Engineers to support national security work at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), checking design definition for the first new weapon system program in over 30 years. The position is 100% onsite in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Long-term travel arrangements and per diem are available subject to LANL travel guidelines. The role applies expertise in Creo 3D CAD, hardware design and fabrication, GD&T, and engineering concepts. The engineer checks models and drawings, supports product definition and models-based definition (MBD), conducts tolerance and stack analyses, and helps ensure designs meet requirements and are producible. Work involves complex or unique technical problems and requires ingenuity, creativity, and independence. Completed work is expected to meet expert standards without appreciable direction. The engineer may guide teams through design iterations to address potential engineering defects and may mentor junior staff in MBD and GD&T. The position requires a U.S. citizen who can obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance. A current Top Secret or DOE Q clearance is highly sought after but is not required. Compensation is $115,000–$135,000 per year, depending on qualifications.

  • Advanced understanding of mechanical CAD and Creo.
  • Experience with mechanical CAD, manufacturing, inspection, assembly, and testing.
  • Experience checking Creo models and drawings for form, fit, and function and with models-based definition (MBD).
  • Experience conducting tolerance and stack analyses and applying current design standards.
  • Mechanical design experience ensuring product definition meets requirements and producibility goals while reducing rejected products.
  • Experience with Creo 3D CAD software, PDMLink Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis software.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14 standards, particularly Y14.5-2009 and Y14.41 MBD.
  • Experience developing and interpreting 3D CAD model standards, practices, and procedures for communicating design intent.
  • Knowledge of hardware fabrication, inspection, and assembly processes.
  • Experience with weapon-system configuration management workflows for product-definition authorization, review, release, and distribution.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks for a variety of customers.
  • Experience leading design, manufacture, assembly, and test reviews.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to develop constructive, cooperative working relationships and support multidisciplinary teams.
