About The Position

The Mechanical Apprentice is a trade worker with at least one year of experience as a plumber, steamfitter, pipe fitter, refrigeration and air conditioning fitter, or pipe fitter welder. The description also states that the Journeyman is responsible for performing journey-level mechanical duties in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing gasoline, diesel, battery, and electric equipment.

Requirements

At least one year of experience in the trade.
Formal training in the fundamentals of the trade at an approved vocational school.
Trade background as a plumber, steamfitter, pipe fitter, refrigeration and air conditioning fitter, or pipe fitter welder.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, and balance.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl using both arms and legs.
Ability to pick up at least 60 pounds.
Ability to reach with both hands and arms.
Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects.
Ability to smell, talk, and hear.
Ability to use hands and arms to reach, handle, feel, and type.
Ability to see at close and distance ranges and correctly distinguish colors.
Ability to work inside and outside.

Responsibilities

Perform break-fix work on electromechanical systems, including HVAC, hydronics, appliances, roll-up doors, dock locks, and air compressors.
Inspect and repair spill and leak detection systems.
Maintain and commission hydronic rack cooling (Deschutes) systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and hydronic systems, including pumps, strainers, and cooling towers.
Schedule team activities and requisition materials.
Contribute to site failure reporting through the Equipment Status Log.
Support mechanical projects.
Perform clean-in-place procedures on heat exchangers.
Inspect and clean chiller tubes.
Maintain and repair site plumbing.
Maintain eyewash stations and showers.
Maintain forklifts.
Perform gas valve preventive maintenance.
Diagnose, maintain, and repair gasoline, diesel, battery, and electric equipment.
