About The Position

The Meat & Seafood Manager is responsible for the sales and operation of the Meat & Seafood Department at Sprouts Farmers Market. The role plans, orders, and prepares cutting lists; processes meat to meet department goals and standards; and oversees merchandise ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, rotation, and displays. The manager leads and develops team members, supports recruiting and staffing decisions, communicates standards and product knowledge, and helps deliver quality products and customer service. The position also serves as a Key Carrier and may act as Manager on Duty as needed.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
Have at least 2 years of meat-cutting experience in the grocery or restaurant industry, including leadership experience.
Have a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude toward Team Members and customers.
Be able to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Be able to stand continuously for up to 4 hours and for a total of 8 hours per shift; walk up to 2 miles per 8-hour shift.
Be able to work inside a temperature-controlled area.
Have good vision for using sharp knives, a band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine, and tenderizer.
Be able to lift or carry products horizontally or vertically weighing 25 to 90 lbs. from heights of 4 to 60 inches, up to 10 feet, for up to 20 hours.
Be able to use a pallet jack to move pallets horizontally up to 500 lbs., requiring up to 85 lbs. of force, up to 100 feet, for up to 5 hours.
Be able to move product racks horizontally weighing up to 70 lbs., requiring up to 25 lbs. of force, up to 50 feet, for up to 10 hours.
Be able to move tables weighing up to 70 lbs., requiring more than 35 lbs. of force, up to 2 feet, for up to 1 hour.

Responsibilities

Plan, order, and prepare cutting lists.
Process meat according to department goals and standards to maximize sales and gross profit.
Ensure correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and displays.
Coach, give feedback to, and develop team members through one-on-one discussions; complete bi-annual performance reviews and recommend merit increases.
Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
Recruit, hire, and make promotion or transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
Use independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
Document and take corrective actions as needed, collaborating with business and HR partners on coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination.
Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
Lead the team in delivering high-quality products, service, and customer experiences.
Serve as a Key Carrier and/or act as Manager on Duty as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
