About The Position

The Meat Clerk is responsible for supporting meat department operations, including preparing, storing, cutting, cleaning, and serving meat. The position helps maintain product displays, food safety, accurate inventory and purchasing records, and customer service. The role reports to the Meat Manager and does not supervise other positions. No travel is required, and the work schedule is flexible.

Requirements

No prior experience is necessary.
Basic math skills.
Must have access to a phone at all times.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including a back belt when lifting and handling heavy objects.
Ability to meet the listed physical demands, including frequent handling, reaching, bending, squatting or kneeling, and lifting or carrying various weights.

Responsibilities

Monitor food distribution and ensure guidelines are followed.
Clean and sterilize dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment, and facilities.
Keep coolers, cases, and displays stocked.
Work assigned shifts and perform tasks assigned by the Meat Manager or Store Manager.
Provide customers with friendly, courteous, and prompt service.
Communicate with the Meat Manager and share responsibility for controlling shrink.
Record hours worked and verify and sign the time ticket report.
Monitor food preparation and serving techniques to ensure proper procedures are followed.
Assist with accurate bookkeeping for weekly and monthly meat purchases.
Assist in maintaining records to control shrink through inventory and ordering.
Inventory products on hand before preparing a meat order.
Assist the Meat Manager with four-week-period meat inventory.
Rotate products when received and stocked.
Ensure meat coolers and cases operate at the proper temperature.
Follow proper safety procedures.
Clean and maintain the meat department, coolers, cases, and equipment.
