About The Position

Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services (HCS) is seeking a compassionate and reliable Meals on Wheels Driver to help deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors and individuals in our community. This role is an important part of supporting the health, dignity, and independence of the people we serve. The driver ensures meals are delivered safely, on time, and with a friendly check-in that helps reduce isolation and promotes well-being.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to follow directions and safety procedures.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to use a smartphone or tablet for delivery confirmation and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up prepared meals from the designated kitchen.
  • Deliver meals to clients along an assigned route in a timely and safe manner.
  • Conduct brief wellness check-ins and report any concerns to the supervisor or care team.
  • Utilize an app on an agency issued cell phone for documentation and delivery confirmation.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures.
  • Adhere to all agency policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Picking up hot and cold food from assigned meal site.
  • Delivery of meals to individual participants. Meal is not left if participant is not home.
  • Ensuring that proper diet meals are delivered to participants.
  • Ensuring that the containers of hot and cold foods are maintained at proper temperatures.
  • Collecting participant donations and deliver such donations to their supervisor.
  • Reporting conditions of participants to supervisor. Reporting when participant is not home.
  • Operating the vehicle in accordance with agency procedures and State of New Hampshire safety standards.
  • Maintaining paperwork as required for project operations, including a Driver’s Log for Meals on Wheels participants.
  • Attending staff meetings and trainings as required by the Program Manager.
  • Actively participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement Program by expressing ideas, concerns, and solutions to improving the quality of service.
  • Remains knowledgeable of and adheres to the Corporate Compliance Plan and Standards of Conduct. Identifies and reports any incidence of non-compliance to the Corporate Compliance Officer.
  • Conveys a positive image of the agency through personal appearance, attitudes and behaviors.
  • Performs other functions as appropriate or assigned.
