About The Position

Meals on Wheels program coordinators are responsible for the program coordination, and client experience of the Meals on Wheels (MOW) program in Eugene. This role is a mix of direct service to older adults and persons with disabilities, delivery driving, physical labor, volunteer coordination, and administrative work. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively manage multiple responsibilities, transition between different aspects of the role, and adapt to changing priorities throughout the day. Successful candidates will be skilled at relationship building, comfortable with a fast-paced work environment, able to navigate constantly shifting priorities and directives, possess innovation and problem-solving skills, as well as a willingness and flexibility to pitch in and help wherever needed.

Requirements

  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, especially older adults, low-income, diverse and multicultural clients, clients with mental illness, dementia, severe trauma and/or cognitive limitations
  • Responsible and self-managed. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work. Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook calendar and email system, and previous database experience
  • Ability to work well under pressure and stay calm in stressful situations such as medical emergencies or clients experiencing a mental health crisis
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to provide excellent customer service to all clients and SDS Case Managers. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Possess a current Food Handler’s Card, or willingness to obtain within two weeks of hire
  • Safe driving record, valid Oregon driver’s license, reliable transportation, current vehicle insurance and ability to use personal vehicle daily for FFLC business (mileage reimbursement is available) and be in compliance with Food for Lane County’s insurance carrier's requirements to drive a company vehicle
  • All offers for employment are contingent on a satisfactory background check
  • The use of a smart phone will be necessary to meet the requirements of this position. FFLC will provide a company phone or monthly reimbursement towards a personal phone plan.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of approximately 200 clients.
  • Coordinate daily logistics including placing orders, maintaining inventory, preparing meal orders for delivery, and food distribution to clients
  • Conduct client assessments and in-home visits.
  • Provide information and referrals to Senior and Disability Services (SDS) and other community resources.
  • Report suspected cases of abuse, exploitation, or neglect to Adult Protective Services.
  • Use both personal and company vehicles to drive delivery routes
  • Daily set up and take down of delivery equipment
  • Utilizes client databases to maintain accurate client records.
  • Performs administrative duties including data entry, monthly reports, answering phones/emails, and responding public inquiries and referrals
  • Represent Food for Lane County with knowledge and respect
  • Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and Oregon Food Bank regulations regarding food safety, storage, and handling.
  • Follow Food for Lane County (FFLC) policies and procedures
  • Attends regularly scheduled staff, team, and individual meetings as assigned
  • Performs other tasks as requested by supervisor including but not limited to running errands, cleaning, and providing backup support for other senior program staff
