Spring 2027•San Francisco, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Tutors at San Francisco State University's Tutoring & Academic Support Center (TASC) are upper-division and graduate students who help students learn and develop math, science, quantitative business, computing, and academic study skills across all majors. Tutors provide support through one-on-one appointments and drop-in sessions, both on campus and online, helping students at all levels achieve their academic goals. Tutors also serve as peer educators and campus leaders, developing professional competencies through tutoring, training, collaboration, and reflective practice. These competencies include communication, teamwork, critical thinking, professionalism, equity and inclusion, leadership, and career and self-development. New tutors receive two hours of paid training each week during their first semester. Training is led by TASC faculty on Wednesdays during a two-hour block between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., beginning the first week of classes. All tutors attend an all-staff workshop on the Friday before the semester begins. New tutors begin working with students within the first month after required training. Both work-study and non-work-study positions are available. This is a temporary, part-time, on-site student position running from January 2027 through May 2027. Tutors must work at least 8–12 hours per week, including two hours of weekly training, and no more than 20 hours per week. Work hours depend on the tutor's availability and scheduling needs. Tutoring is provided on campus and online, but the position is assigned to on-campus operations and work must be performed in California. Occasional telework may be possible.
