About The Position

Peterbilt Motors Company, a PACCAR Company, is hiring a Materials Handling Intern to join its Materials team in Denton, Texas. The intern will work on projects and reports involving dock utilization, freight delivery optimization, DPU reduction, and implementation planning. The role includes evaluating current dock use and considering dock needs for a plant expansion, developing delivery-scheduling proposals, analyzing incoming loads for trailer utilization and shipment-consolidation opportunities, reviewing data to identify DPU reduction opportunities, and assisting the team with plans for project implementation.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a logistics, business, or related program.
Have completed the sophomore year of college.

Responsibilities

Evaluate current dock utilization.
Consider the best use of docks for the plant expansion.
Develop a proposal to schedule loads and spread deliveries to improve dock efficiency.
Evaluate incoming loads to maximize utilization.
Identify opportunities to consolidate shipments or reduce shipment frequency to fill trailers.
Review data related to DPU reduction.
Identify DPU reduction opportunities and provide recommendations.
Assist the team in developing plans for project implementation.
