About The Position

Under the direction of the Receiving & Shipping Supervisor, the Material Handling Tech operates a forklift and loads, unloads, and moves material to designated areas on the shop floor while meeting customer requirements. The role requires safe material handling, effective communication with team members, compliance with safety rules and PPE requirements, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior forklift experience required.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to communicate information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations with other employees.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including regularly standing and using hands; occasionally walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and talking or hearing.
• Ability to regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Close, distance, and peripheral vision, and depth perception.

• Experience working in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate a multi-directional forklift to move material from one destination to another.
• Load and unload material by hand onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
• Use an overhead crane.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Work closely with team members and communicate efficiently.
• Move material safely to specific destinations in the shop.
• Comply with safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Check the work area for hazards.
• Leave the work area clean and safe at the end of the shift.
