About The Position
BlueLinx is hiring a Material Handler/Forklift Operator for its distribution center. This role supports the safe and efficient handling, storage, and distribution of building materials in a team-oriented environment focused on safety and quality service. The position follows a Monday–Friday workweek and uses safe, reliable machinery.
Requirements
- One year of recent forklift or warehouse experience.
- Ability to proficiently and safely use a forklift to transport products and load or unload trucks.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Ability to work independently at times and under pressure.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety materials, and similar documents.
- Safe work record and stable work history.
Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift in compliance with training and safety guidelines.
- Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
- Store and retrieve materials through piece-pick and/or bulk handling.
- Prepare paperwork required for product distribution and shipping.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the work and assigned areas.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
