About The Position

BlueLinx is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to work at a distribution center as part of a team focused on safety and quality service. The role involves handling building materials, preparing shipping and distribution paperwork, inspecting and maintaining equipment, and helping maintain an orderly work area. The position has a Monday–Friday schedule. Compensation depends on experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.

Requirements

• One year or recent forklift or warehouse experience.
• Ability to safely and proficiently use a forklift to transport products and load and unload trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure.
• Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, and similar documents.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material, including piece pick and/or bulk material.
• Prepare paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the working and assigned area.
• Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
