About The Position

Oertel Metal Works is seeking a reliable, safety-minded Material Handler for the 3rd shift at its Davenport, Iowa location. The role supports overnight production by delivering raw materials to operators in Paint and on the Shop Floor, staging materials for the next day’s deliveries using the GSS system, and preparing outbound loads. The employee works with the 3rd shift supervisor and communicates with 1st shift and drivers during handoff. The position involves working independently and following instructions with attention to detail. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with the option for overtime. Two weeks of hands-on training are provided: one week staging deliveries with a driver and one week learning material handling with the experienced team. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Requirements

Previous fork truck experience is preferred, or the ability to learn and safely operate a fork truck.
Comfort working independently and staying productive without direct supervision.
Ability to work in a warehouse and outdoors in a physical role, remaining on one’s feet and moving throughout the day.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Team-oriented approach and willingness to contribute to a hard-working team.
Organization and attention to detail.
Comfort learning computer systems, including GSS, to look up and stage orders.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Responsibilities
