About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for shipping, receiving, and transporting packaging, ingredients, and finished goods for the facility. This role follows safety rules and Good Manufacturing Practices, maintains and inspects forklift equipment, verifies and documents deliveries, organizes and rotates materials, supports inventory counts, labels open or partial materials, and stages materials according to production schedules. The position also includes other warehouse and freezer duties and requires working in an extremely cold environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Basic math and computer skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
One year or more of material-handling experience.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to regularly stand, reach, bend, and move about the facility.
Close, distance, and peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Hearing ability sufficient to meet manufacturing facility safety requirements.
Ability to operate all forklift equipment and complete annual forklift training and recertification.

Responsibilities

Observe safety rules and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment and safe material-handling practices.
Follow established Good Manufacturing Practices and maintain an orderly, clean work area.
Inspect forklifts daily, including batteries, water levels, lights, horn, tires, mirrors, oil levels, and backup-beep indicators.
Verify deliveries and discrepancies by physically counting materials and comparing quantities with delivery receipts.
Enter delivery receipt and material-handling documentation into the company computer system.
Organize and rotate older materials with new materials.
Perform daily housekeeping, removing or fixing dirty, torn, hanging, or broken wood, packaging, and ingredients.
Assist management with inventory balances through physical cycle counts.
Label open or partial ingredients and packaging.
Check production schedules daily and stage packaging and ingredients as needed.
Perform other warehouse and freezer duties.
Operate all forklift equipment and maintain annual forklift training and recertification.
Work in an extremely cold environment.
