About The Position

Johnson Controls is hiring a Material Coordinator/Stockkeeper to perform skilled and unskilled duties supporting manufacturing operations with minimal instructions and in accordance with established schedules. The role operates hand or power vehicles and overhead cranes, moves materials between operations and buildings, receives and stores incoming shipments, maintains inventory and records, and supports production by addressing parts shortages. The position also performs storeroom functions, including filling requisitions, assigning stock locations, inspecting received merchandise, and processing inventory and production transactions in SAP or another network system. The employee maintains a clean and safe work area and equipment according to 5S standards, follows safety policies and procedures, and may participate in Kaizen events, 5S programs, problem-solving exercises, and other special work teams. The position is onsite in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and works second shift, 2 PM to 10 PM. The hiring hourly rate is $28.73, subject to factors including education, experience, skills, abilities, internal equity, location, and market data.

Requirements

Working knowledge of SAP, warehouse management, bills of material, drawings, assembly techniques, and the products manufactured.
Ability to pass and maintain certifications required to operate applicable material-handling equipment.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information.
Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, customers, and production staff.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to assist in creating and executing continuous-improvement initiatives.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
Ability to walk, bend, stand, and sit for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Perform skilled and unskilled duties relating to manufacturing operations according to established schedules.
Operate hand or power vehicles and overhead cranes; maintain required certifications for material-handling equipment.
Advise the supervisor of job status and any problem areas.
Maintain time, quality, quantity, and other records.
Keep work areas and equipment clean and safe in accordance with 5S standards and follow safety policies, procedures, and JHRA’s.
Participate in special work teams, including Kaizen events, 5S programs, and problem-solving exercises.
Move completed materials to the next operation or to storage, and maintain parts supplies for current and future orders.
Fill parts shortages and receive materials into stock; fill requisitions promptly and assign stock locations when operating the storeroom.
Detect and report defective materials, shortages, and low stock.
Verify merchandise quality and identification numbers against orders and confirm packing-list quantities match received quantities.
Open wooden and cardboard containers for packing-list review and inspection.
Receive, unload as needed, move, and keep records for incoming merchandise shipments.
Dump hoppers when necessary.
Transport materials between operations and buildings, including loading and unloading trucks and coordinating incoming and outgoing materials on trips between buildings.
Process transactions to relieve inventory and complete production documentation in SAP or another network system.
Control and record purchased-material activity in the storeroom.
Expedite parts shortages to help complete jobs across plant sections.
Perform utility functions by filling in for production workers as needed.
