About The Position

Johnson Controls is hiring a Material Coordinator/Stockkeeper for its Waynesboro, Pennsylvania location. The position performs skilled and unskilled duties in support of manufacturing operations, following established schedules and requiring minimal instruction. The role handles, receives, stores, and moves materials throughout the plant; maintains stock and production records; and uses SAP or another network system to complete inventory and production transactions. The position works on site on second shift, from 2 PM to 10 PM, at an hourly rate of $28.73, subject to the stated factors affecting pay. The role may operate hand or powered vehicles and an overhead crane, provided required equipment certifications are maintained. It also supports continuous improvement and safety programs, including 5S, Kaizen, and problem-solving activities, and may fill in for production workers when needed. The job requires substantial walking, bending, standing, and sitting for extended periods, as well as the ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

Requirements

Working knowledge of SAP, warehouse management, bills of material, drawings, assembly techniques, and products manufactured.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information.
Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, customers, and production staff.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
Ability to walk and to bend, stand, and sit for extended periods.
Ability to pass and maintain required material-handling equipment certifications.

Responsibilities

Perform skilled and unskilled duties related to manufacturing operations according to established schedules and with minimal instruction.
Operate hand or power vehicles and an overhead crane as needed.
Advise the Supervisor of job status and problems in process.
Maintain certifications required to operate material-handling equipment under applicable lease agreements and State or Federal codes.
Maintain time, quality, quantity, and other required records.
Keep the work area and equipment clean and safe according to 5S standards, and follow safety policies, procedures, and JHRA’s.
Participate in special work teams and activities such as Kaizen events, 5S programs, and problem-solving exercises.
Move completed material to the next operation or to storage, and maintain parts supplies for current and future orders.
Fill parts shortages and receive materials into stock; detect and report defective material, shortages, and low stock.
Operate the storeroom when needed, including promptly filling requisitions and assigning stock locations.
Compare merchandise quality and identification numbers against orders and verify received quantities against packing lists.
Open wooden and cardboard containers for packing-list review and inspection.
Receive, unload when needed, and move incoming shipments; maintain related records.
Dump hoppers when necessary.
Transport material between operations and buildings, including loading and unloading trucks and coordinating incoming and outgoing materials.
Perform SAP or other network-system transactions to relieve inventory and process production documentation.
Control and record activity for purchased material stages in the storeroom.
Expedite parts shortages to help complete jobs across plant sections.
Perform utility functions by filling in for production workers when necessary.
Assist with creating and executing continuous-improvement initiatives.
