About The Position

Big Human, a full-service digital product agency, is hiring a Marketing Strategist to own client marketing programs from start to finish across a varied client portfolio, including cultural institutions, nonprofits, consumer platforms, enterprise B2B clients, and Big Human’s own brand. This role is intended for someone with several years of agency experience who is ready for greater ownership and growth. The strategist will work closely with the Director of Marketing, who will support their development. The role focuses on strategic, goal-oriented marketing. The Marketing Strategist will define success for each project, establish goals and milestones, estimate and prioritize work, and keep clients and teammates aligned. They will plan and run campaigns across social, email, content, and web, selecting channels to fit each client’s goals. AI tools are used for ideation, drafting, and analysis; the strategist is responsible for applying judgment, quality control, and accountability to the final work. This is a fully remote, full-time role. Big Human strongly prefers candidates based in the Tri-State area or able to travel easily to NYC for coworking days and team gatherings. East Coast hours are required. The salary range is $85,000–$95,000, depending on background.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of marketing experience, including at least 3 years at an agency handling multiple clients at once.

  • Ability to get up to speed quickly in unfamiliar industries.
  • Ability to develop original creative concepts.
  • Strong editing judgment and ability to make drafts specific and readable.
  • Ownership mindset: define success, make decisions with imperfect information, and identify next steps without waiting for direction.
  • Results orientation, balancing brand storytelling with growth and assessing whether work achieved its goals.
  • Openness to feedback and ability to apply it to subsequent work.
  • Careful judgment around budgets, timelines, accuracy, and client relationships, including flagging risks before committing.
  • Clear, direct communication and ability to make and explain recommendations, including constructive disagreement.
  • Comfort using AI tools and accountability for the material they produce.
  • Agency experience; candidates without agency experience are not a fit for the role.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong social instincts, with examples of growing an account or developing posts.
  • Experience with short-form video or motion.
  • Experience launching early-stage products or working closely with product designers and engineers.
  • Experience in regulated or compliance-heavy categories.
  • Experience running email programs; Mailchimp experience is a plus.
  • Experience supporting influencer or creator programs.

  • Take the initial strategic lead on projects that start from scratch, including shaping go-to-market and launch plans for products, features, and campaigns.
  • Combine client inputs, research, and data into a clear strategic direction.
  • Estimate work hours, prioritize work, make trade-offs, and explain when work should not proceed or should be deferred.
  • Break plans into weekly actions and track the status of client engagements to keep work focused.
  • Plan and run campaigns across social, email, content, and web, selecting channels according to client goals.
  • Develop original creative concepts and collaborate with designers, writers, and other teammates when appropriate.
  • Define campaign metrics before launch and ensure campaigns are connected to data.
  • Edit AI-assisted and writer-produced emails, articles, website copy, and social content; fact-check and take responsibility for client-facing work.
  • Improve copy by adding specificity, voice, and structure.
  • Report progress against client goals, prepare weekly client decks and updates, and explain what happened, why it matters, and what should happen next.
  • Use performance results to decide whether to expand, adjust, or stop activities; run tests and share learnings.
  • Manage day-to-day client work alongside the Marketing Manager, and present plans, updates, and recommendations clearly.
  • Flag risks, blockers, and uncertainty early, and close loops in Asana and in conversation.
  • Manage personal workstreams in Asana and turn lessons learned into templates, SOPs, and repeatable workflows.
