About The Position

Faire is seeking a Marketing Engineer to join their marketing organization. This role involves building and owning systems within the marketing function, utilizing Faire's production stack. The Marketing Engineer will be responsible for developing solutions for audience management, campaign automation, landing pages, attribution, translation, paid feeds, and monitoring. The goal is to empower marketers to operate independently by providing them with robust, internally built tools and systems. This is a hands-on engineering role that requires writing production code, owning services end-to-end, participating in on-call rotations, and ensuring the trustworthiness of marketing workflows at scale. Success in this role will be measured by the marketing organization gaining new capabilities. The scope of ownership can include paid media tooling, landing page frameworks, campaign systems, the marketing data layer, internal platform tooling, and the integration of AI models into marketing surfaces. The role will also involve defining collaboration with broader Engineering, Product, Data, and Design (EPDD) partner teams.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Faire's tech stack: Kotlin, Java, JUnit, Hibernate, Guice, Jersey, React, Next.js, HTTP, JSON, Protocol Buffers, MySQL, CockroachDB, and AWS.
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort with data warehousing for instrumentation and decision-making.
  • Depth in at least one marketing platform: CDP or ESP (Braze, Iterable, Segment, Hightouch), attribution or analytics platform, CMS, or ad platform API.
  • Daily use of AI coding agents.
  • Experience putting LLMs into production systems with evaluations, monitoring, and defined failure modes.
  • A track record of owning a system end-to-end, including on-call responsibilities, and successfully delivering it to non-technical users.
  • Ability to operate independently and ship to non-technical users who can then operate the system without direct assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Marketplace or two-sided e-commerce experience.
  • Production experience with Kotlin or Java on the backend and JavaScript or TypeScript with React or Next.js on the frontend.
  • Experience replacing a martech vendor with an in-house build, including cost analysis.
  • Experience with Braze, Hightouch, Google Ads, or Meta platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Enable marketers to run independently by providing self-serve capabilities.
  • Take part in on-call rotations.
  • Put agents into marketing workflows with the necessary evaluations and monitoring for scalability and trustworthiness.
  • Develop solutions for marketing-led landing pages, improving workflow speed and self-serve capabilities.
  • Create self-serve audience and attribute syncing capabilities for paid platforms and marketing-led lifecycle campaigns.
  • Contribute to projects such as a learning loop for generative assets in ad campaigns, improving core intelligence feeds, and real-time recommendation management.
  • Collaborate with lifecycle, paid, brand, and product marketing teams to understand patterns in requests and build systemic solutions.
  • Turn ambiguous asks into scoped, prioritized plans, communicating tradeoffs and progress to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure marketing workflows are trustworthy at scale through robust evaluation and monitoring.
