About the position
The Marketing Associate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Marketing team at African Leadership Academy. This includes creating and managing content across social media channels, drafting external communications such as newsletters, and collaborating with the Director of Marketing and Communications to meet the marketing needs of all departments within the organization. The role also involves measuring the effectiveness of the social media strategy, designing social media ads, managing social media accounts, and creating monthly performance reports. Additionally, the Marketing Associate will assist in creating and editing written, video, and photo content, as well as providing marketing support to other departments.
Responsibilities
- Social media content creation, posting, and channel management
- Implementing social media strategy to increase online presence and improve marketing and recruitment efforts
- Collaborating with the Director of Marketing and Communications to plan monthly social media calendar for all channels
- Capturing content on-campus (events and everyday student life) for sharing on social channels, writing clear and concise captions
- Using data to measure the effectiveness of the social media strategy
- Designing social media ads for the 2 Year Diploma Program and ALA's Global Scholars Program
- Managing all ALA's social media accounts, responding to messages, comments, and mentions, and community inbox management
- Creating monthly social media reports on performance and targets
- Managing a student media team that supports content creation (social media posts, photography, videography, etc)
- Assisting in creating and editing written, video, and photo content
- Drafting stories for the website, newsletter, annual report, and outreach campaigns
- Sourcing images for each campaign, designing email templates, managing mailing lists
- Updating the website to ensure it is up-to-date
- Supporting departments across the Academy to ensure they have the collateral needed to engage with external stakeholders
- Coordinating and engaging with departments across the organization

- Ability to draft stories for various platforms and campaigns

- Familiarity with website management and updating
- Ability to support departments in engaging with external stakeholders

- Minimum of Bachelor's degree required
- At least two years of experience in social media, writing, or digital marketing role
- Strong working knowledge of Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, and Google Ads
- Creative skills in content creation tools like Canva, Visme, Adobe Creative, or similar
- Experience managing social media across channels
- Strong writing skills for crafting concise and compelling messages
- Proven experience using data to inform content and social media strategy
- Working knowledge of social media tracking and analytics tools
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to respond quickly and accurately across social media channels
- Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications
