About the position

The Director of Marketing and Communications at African Leadership Academy will be responsible for developing and implementing the organization's marketing strategy. They will work closely with other teams to ensure clear and impactful messaging, coordinate resources for collateral, and support content production across various channels. The role also involves managing social media platforms, email marketing campaigns, and data analysis to measure the effectiveness of marketing activities. Additionally, the Director of Marketing and Communications will serve as a strategic partner to other departments, assisting them with their marketing and communication needs.

Responsibilities

  • Clarify, distill, and manage ALA's message and key channels to communicate the message to various audiences.
  • Develop and manage ALA's annual marketing strategy, plans, budget, and timelines.
  • Coordinate the annual calendar of all productions, including but not limited to the quarterly newsletter, Annual Report, Annual Appeal, and various other campaigns.
  • Write, design, and manage all communication materials including newsletters, email campaigns, blog posts, brochures, thought leadership pieces, and articles for the Annual Report.
  • Serve as the Project Manager for the ALA website, ensuring information is up to date and the blog is regularly updated with stories.
  • Share student stories and institutional knowledge to enhance ALA's recognition locally and globally.
  • Work with photographers/videographers to capture ALA events and campus/student life for social media and media repository.
  • Ensure consistency across ALA's brand and messaging.
  • Manage all of ALA's social media platforms and implement a robust social media strategy.
  • Produce a monthly/quarterly/annual social media content calendar and create content across social media audiences.
  • Design, write, and distribute email marketing campaigns and measure engagement on each campaign.
  • Develop systems to collect and analyze data across channels to measure the effectiveness of marketing activities.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to other departments in helping them with their marketing and communication needs.
  • Support teams at ALA with their marketing calendars, including defining their message and audience, collating resources, managing the timeline, developing the outreach strategy, distributing the content, and providing reports on campaign success.
  • Assist with content creation for campaigns, including copywriting and organizing photography.

  • Assist with content creation for campaigns, including copywriting and organizing photographs.
