About The Position

The hospital Physician Clinical Systems Specialist functions as an electronic medical record (EMR) system expert under the direct supervision of the Market Clinical Informatics Director and according to established policies and procedures. The role is primarily responsible for training clinicians to use the Cerner EMR efficiently and proactively providing at-the-elbow support to clinicians throughout the hospital. The specialist may also assist with implementation, support, and optimization of the EMR and other clinical systems.

The position is onsite at Baylor Scott & White Medical and Surgical Clinic – Las Colinas. It supports clinicians in integrating the EMR into clinical workflows and promotes consistent, effective use aligned with policy, procedure, and standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Ability to develop, maintain, and collaborate with clinicians.
• Ability to problem-solve and resolve conflict.
• Understanding of clinical workflow and ability to integrate technology into clinical practice.
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Ability to serve as a model of credibility, professionalism, and customer service.

Nice To Haves

• Three years of experience in a clinical hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct purposeful hospital rounding.
• Provide direct support to providers and nurses to help end users successfully integrate the EMR into clinical workflow.
• Promote consistent and effective EMR use aligned with policy, procedure, and standards.
• At times, create educational content to communicate and educate providers and clinicians about EMR changes, initiatives, and projects.
• Regularly provide suggestions and seek feedback from physicians and clinicians about the EMR, communicating this information to the Market Clinical Informatics Director.
• Collaborate with the Market Clinical Informatics Director to improve physician and clinician satisfaction with the EMR, promote the “voice of the customer,” and improve IS service and support.
• Train clinicians to use the Cerner EMR efficiently and provide proactive at-the-elbow support.
• At times, assist with implementation, support, and optimization of the EMR and other clinical systems.
