About The Position

The Physician Clinical Systems Specialist functions as an electronic medical record (EMR) system expert under the direct supervision of the Market Clinical Informatics Director and in accordance with established policies and procedures. The role primarily trains clinicians to use the Cerner EMR efficiently and proactively provides at-the-elbow support to clinicians throughout the hospital. The specialist may also assist with implementation, support, and optimization of the EMR and other clinical systems.

The position is onsite at Baylor Scott & White Medical and Surgical Clinic – Las Colinas. It focuses on supporting clinicians’ integration of the EMR into clinical workflows, encouraging consistent use in alignment with policies and standards, and relaying user feedback to inform improvements to EMR satisfaction and information systems support.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Ability to develop, maintain, and collaborate with clinicians.
• Ability to solve problems and resolve conflict.
• Understanding of clinical workflow and ability to integrate technology into clinical practice.
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Ability to serve as a model of credibility, professionalism, and customer service.

Nice To Haves

• Three years of experience in a clinical hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct purposeful hospital rounding.
• Provide direct support to providers and nurses to help end users successfully integrate the EMR into clinical workflows.
• Promote consistent and effective EMR use in alignment with policy, procedure, and standards.
• At times, create educational content to communicate and educate providers and clinicians about EMR changes, initiatives, and projects.
• Seek suggestions and feedback from physicians and clinicians regarding the EMR and communicate that information to the Market Clinical Informatics Director.
• Collaborate with the Market Clinical Informatics Director to improve physician and clinician satisfaction with the EMR, promote the voice of the customer, and improve information systems service and support.
• Train clinicians to use the Cerner EMR efficiently.
• Provide at-the-elbow support to clinicians throughout the hospital.
• At times, assist with implementation, support, and optimization of the EMR and other clinical systems.
