About The Position

Market Grille Cooks prepare fresh hot and cold menu items, from preparation through plating, and help keep the food case stocked. They provide friendly customer service, prepare food and guest orders, maintain food quality and sanitation, and support the smooth operation of the Market Grille in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Training is provided.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training is provided.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in varied situations.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation where applicable.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
Prepare cooking surfaces and menu items, including vegetables, sides, meats, breakfast foods, and heat-and-eat varieties.
Place food in hot cases, monitor quantities, and refill them as needed.
Stay knowledgeable about menu items and take guest orders as needed.
Prepare items for upcoming shifts.
Maintain a thorough understanding of Market Grille operations.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Order products and supplies as needed or notify department managers of supply needs.
Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
