About The Position

The Market Grille Clerk serves made-to-order food and provides a welcoming customer experience at the Market Grille counter. The role involves keeping orders and food supplies on track, safely handling and preparing food, and working with a team to maintain quality service in a fast-paced store kitchen environment. Hy-Vee provides training for the position.

Requirements

Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team to provide a positive customer experience.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
No education requirement; training is provided.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, point-of-sale transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Employment is contingent on successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Prior food service experience is a plus.
Where applicable to the role, ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation.
Where applicable to the role, ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and help make each customer visit positive.
Take orders at the Market Grille counter and promptly answer the telephone, including taking product orders.
Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish products.
Retrieve products from coolers or freezers for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is available.
Handle food safely and check food for freshness and appearance.
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area throughout the shift.
Receive and put away products and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, accept payment, and make change where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as needed.
Price and order products and deliver orders as needed.
Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and complete special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
