About The Position

The Market Grille Clerk prepares and serves fresh, made-to-order food while providing prompt, friendly customer service. The role involves taking counter and telephone orders, keeping food supplies ready, handling food safely, maintaining freshness and cleanliness, and helping the department run smoothly in a busy store kitchen. Training is provided.

Requirements

Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Night and weekend shifts are required.

Nice To Haves

Prior food service experience.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and help make each customer visit positive.
Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, including taking product orders.
Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish products.
Pull products from coolers or freezers for cooking and maintain an adequate food supply.
Handle food safely and monitor food freshness and appearance.
Maintain a clean, sanitary work area.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, receive payments, and make change where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as necessary.
Price and order products and deliver orders as needed.
Work with coworkers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
